American Folk Art Dolls Daybed

Quick Overview

In earlier times, in America, a father, generally self taught, often made something special for his child to use and love. This was often something made by hand with great care. This was surely one of those pieces. You can just see a father meticulously making this little American Folk Art lounge or daybed, after the larger one he might have made for himself. He used tiny little dowels, tiny nails, drilled tiny holes, and cut tiny slats of wood, and finished it up by painting it in red. This is one of those folk art pieces that lasted through the years, and was passed on to those with nearly the same love and attention as the father had for his little girl. Made circa 1900-1920.
